I want to encourage you to offer your members opportunities to speak about their Christian faith and what God has done for them in some of your worship services. For in Isaiah 43:10-12 God declares, “You are my witnesses and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed . . . . You are my witnesses that I am God.” And hearing a witness of how God has acted in another Christian’s life can be very inspirational to your other members and “build up the body of Christ.” It also makes the truths of the Christian faith come alive, encourages those in attendance, brings excitement to your services, teaches your members how their faith can be applied, and lets everyone know that God is alive and well and working in your midst.

Therefore, you are encouraged to provide your members with regular opportunities to share their faith stories with one another, including by having Testimony Sunday or Member’s Sunday worship services where this can take place. Psalm 40:9-10 encourages us to do this by stating, “I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O LORD. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly.”

“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 3my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—. . . . 32 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? 47 The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be my God, the Rock, my Savior! 50 Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.” 2 Samuel 22:2-3, 32, 47, 50*

I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. 16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. 19 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. 30 [H]e shields all who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? 46 The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior! 49 Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name. Psalm 18:1-3, 16-19, 30-31, 46, 49*

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him. I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, LORD, as you know. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly. Psalm 40:1-3, 9-10

[Y]ou have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long. 14 As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. 15 My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long—though I know not how to relate them all. 16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. 17 Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. 18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come. 22 I will praise you . . . for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you . . . Psalm 54:1-2, 4, 6-7

Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.” Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind! Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping. 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. 17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. 19 God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. 20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God. 13 But I pray to you, LORD, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. 16 Answer me, LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me. 17 Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble. 29 But as for me, afflicted and in pain—may your salvation, God, protect me. 30 I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. 32 The poor will see and be glad—you who seek God, may your hearts live! 34 Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them, Psalm 69:1-3, 13, 16-17, 29-30, 32, 34

In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. 12 Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me. 19 Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? 20 Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. 21 You will increase my honor and comfort me once more. Psalm 71:1-3, 5, 9, 12, 14-21

Then I called on the name of the LORD: “LORD, save me!” [W]hen I was brought low, he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. For you, LORD, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living. 12 What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me? 17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD. 18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the LORD . . . . Praise the LORD. Psalm 116:1-4, 6-9, 12, 17-19*
